The mission of the Oskaloosa Homeschool Assistance Program is to support and assist parents in their chosen role as the primary educators of their children. The program offers a variety of services to help accomplish this very challenging and rewarding task.
The 2017-2018 school year was the inaugural year for Osky HSAP; the program served 53 students and has grown significantly to 140 students in the current 2020-2021 academic year. “As the 2021-2022 open enrollment deadline approaches, we are seeing a significant increase to those numbers as well,” states program director Angela Pedersen.
Families in the program are completely free to choose their own curriculum and to design an educational plan that is independently catered to their child. The homeschool assistance program offers optional enrichment classes to supplement the parents’ teaching. Courses such as Spanish, literature, ACT preparatory, art, and computer skills have been offered in the program. The recent addition of the Osky HSAP Choir has been a highly attended and engaging option for students enrolled in the program as well.
The Osky HSAP was created to serve homeschool families in our community. If you would like more information on this educational option please contact HSAP Director, Angela Pedersen at pedersena@oskycsd.org or (641)672-3717.
